Five Flavors of Open Access from DuraSpace: PERMANENT

Winchester, MA  Open access to institutional assets such as special collections, the published results of research, theses and dissertations and data sets are at the heart of defining an institution's long-term impact on scholarship. Internet Archaeology

Internet Archaeology is a hybrid Open Access journal. But in a bid to demonstrate our intent, as of January 2013 all content in issues 1-21 has been made Open Access.

Content in later issues are a mix of OA and subscription, but increasing numbers are Open Access because their authors (or more usually their funding/sponsoring body) have been able to fund production costs (it is journal policy to enable OA on all content when article development costs are met). Our longer term aim is…

The "Publishing Open Access with IEEE" webinar is tomorrow!

Open Access (OA) publishing is steadily changing the scholarly research landscape. While OA has made it easier for the public to access the latest scientific and technical research for free, the process and choices for authors may feel more complex. This webinar will answer your questions on things like licensing, journal integrity, impact factor, and how to reach established audiences within relevant technical…

Myths about Open Access: An article worth reading

Today marks the start of Open Access Week 2013. While browsing the internet for interesting articles on the subject of Open Access, I came across one on the Guardian website titled "Open Access: Six myths to put to rest" by Peter Suber. It's worth a read as it helps to clear a lot of misconceptions about Open…

OA Week at the Claremont Colleges

Our theme for 2013 is Promoting OA Scholarship.

We have two events aimed at library staff education and participation. The third event (outside of OA week dates) is aimed at helping faculty and students understand the facts and let go of the myths about OA student (including undergraduate) scholarship.

Open Access Week Events, McMaster University

My goal this year is to raise awareness about Open Access on campus. Library staff and student volunteers from McMaster's Free Culture Club will be manning an information desk in the lobby of the largest library on campus, Mills Memorial Library. We will be distributing Right to Research handouts, OA buttons and Hallowe'en treats! We will also be promoting two drop-in sessions. The Schedule of Events may be accessed from the article on the University Library's Blog site …
