The 2012 University of Zimbabwe Open Access Week activities will comprise of honouring and presenting special awards to individuals who have made impact in the development of the UZ Institutional Repository. The Library will award authors with the most downloaded articles and most number of uploaded articles and winners will be given an opportunity to testify how the UZ Institutional Repository has helped to increase visibility and recognition of their research output. The UZ Library is also going to run a “Mobile” Open Access Table each day of the week. The “Mobile” Open Access Table will be mounted at strategic points on campus to market and promote OA. Promotional materials such as pamphlets, fliers, and brochures will be distributed from this Table. An Open Access Quiz Competition will be carried out at the “Mobile” Open Access Table each day and winners will get Open Access T-Shirts. The Library Facebook page will be a host to discussion forum called The Open Access Week: each day an answer, where the university community will be given a platform to ask questions on OA.
