The symposium will highlight different aspects of open scholarship with the keynote, Open Has Long Been an Intellectual Property of Learning and What You Can Do About it, by Dr. John Willinsky, Khosla Family Professor of Education and Director of the Program in Science, Technology, and Society at Stanford University. There will be a panel discussion by faculty who have implemented open textbooks, and presentations on open access by Dr. Jean Peccoud, Abell Chair in Synthetic Biology and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Synthetic Biology, and open data by Dr. Tobin Magle. Additionally, a pre-symposium workshop will be offered on selecting open access journals by Heidi Zuniga, MA, MSLS.
