Event Description

The Johns Hopkins University will host several activities to promote Open Access Week, October 18-22, 2010. Kicking off the week will be a talk by Heather Joseph, Executive Director of SPARC on the topic "Open Access: The Current Landscape and Future Direction of Scholarly Communication". This talk will be held in the Mason Hall Auditorium at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 18.

Other events include:

Information and awareness table on the breezeway of the Keyser Quad on Tuesday from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Scientists Talk About Open Access. Hear Dr. Harold Varmus and Dr. Cameron Neylon talk about their views on Open Access. Dr. Varmus helped start both PubMed Central and the Public Library of Science (PL0S). Dr. Neylon is a UK scientist who writes the Science in the Open blog. Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Hamburger Room of the Eisenhower Library.
