Tuesday 25th October
11.00 – 12.30pm, Open Learning Space (ground floor, Library)
A seminar for researchers in the Social Sciences, Humanities and Sciences
This session will provide an introduction to Open Access publishing from both a researcher and publisher perspective.
In this session we will explore:
- the rationale for Open Access
- the current state of the field
- tools that are available for those seeking to edit and establish new journals
- researcher and publisher funding opportunities, particularly in light of author-pays models
Participants will leave with a solid understanding of Open Access and important related areas, such as copyright, that will allow them to accurately appraise the field and to make informed choices when publishing.
Speaker: Martin Eve (Doctoral researcher and founding editor of the Open Access journals, Excursions and Orbit)
