Event Description

Panel Presentation & Discussion

Topics and presenters:

"Libraries and Open Access - What is it? Why does it matter?" (Anne Rauh, Librarian for Science and Engineering, Syracuse University)

"Woolf and OA - would Virginia Woolf support OA?" (Chris Forster, Assistant Professor of English, Syracuse University) Forester will tie the themes of OA to those discussed in the COR100 common reading, A Room of One's Own. Virginia Woolf was an advocate for information access for all, but as a self-publisher, might she also be concerned for the financial implications? Is there a place for OA in the humanities?

"Faculty and OA - one scholars experience with publishing in OA" (Emily Ledgerwood, Assistant Professor, Biology, Le Moyne). Ledgerwood will share her experiences as a scholar who has published in OA journals. Why did she choose this model? What is the importance of OA to the scientific community?

Location: Grewen Hall Auditorium, Le Moyne College, Syracuse, NY 13214

In conjunction with the common reading "A Room of One's Own" by Virginia Woolf

Sponsored by the Core Curriculum,First Year Experience, and the Noreen Reale Falcone Library.
