Peer review or evaluation committees, national or international ranking, bibliometric tools, academic social networks, e-reputation : in many ways, from the most institutionalized to the least formal, the evaluation is more than ever a key element for regulating the research community.
The emergence and development of Open Access has been and still is a great challenge. It has disrupted the traditional processes of publication, validation, recognition and approval of scientific activities. Indeed, it puts into question the criteria that are used for researchers’ evaluation and could transform the process by putting more weight on scientific works filed in Open Access.
The purpose of this symposium is to provide an overview of typical practices and to analyze to what extent the changes are apparent (in some scientific fields, peer review groups or among researchers themselves). Additionally, the French legislative project for a digital republic or the European recommendations regarding Open Access may have a significant impact on the evolution of the methods and standards used to evaluate researchers and their scientific production.
