Every year around the world, universities, international organisations or independent researchers participate in the Open Access week. This event has been created to generate publicity and awareness to the benefits of sharing the knowledge created by academia.
As signatory of the Berlin declaration on open access and in line with its mission UNESCO-IHE aims to disseminate and share as much as possible of its knowledge and supports the Open Access as a new norm of scholarship and research. Several initiatives, such as joining the Open Courseware Consortium are underway.
At this lunch seminar Patricia Darvis of UNESCO-IHE will present several open access platforms, the open course ware consortium and the intellectual property aspects of publishing open access.
For Whom?
- Students : will gain factual information on open access peer-reviewed resources.
- Researchers: intellectual property and copyrights under the Creative Commons licence.

Open Access Week, a global event now entering its sixth year, is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.
