The Gothenburg University Library will arrange the Open Access Week 2011.
The centre of this week will be a discussion panel with the motto “free access, funding, and future” (fri tillgång, finansiering och framtid) where different stakeholders (researchers, representatives of funding agencies, and representatives of the university) will talk about Open Access:
- Which advantages has OA publishing for researchers?
- Which funding models exist and are they sufficient?
- How will the publishing models look like in five years? Will all researchers publish OA? Will peer review disappear?
- OA at University of Gothenburg: advantages and disadvantages
We will also arrange some other seminars during this week, for example an activity in cooperation with the research and innovations department of the university, in-house training together with Jan Hagerlid (National Library of Sweden), and a talk about bibliometrics with Bo Jarneving, (bibliometric services).
The events will take place at different locations in order to reach as many people as possible. We will also market the activities via newsletter and mailing lists, send out material to all section libraries and brief all librarians on the week.
It would be nice to read about other activities!
