Celebrate Open Access Week 2018 at Mitchell Community College (MCC), October 22-26, 2018. Open Access (OA) literature is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. Below is the Open Access Week Schedule of Events which is STUDENT CREATED AND ORGANIZED!!!
Title: Introducing Open Access!
Location: Distance Learning Department located in the Eason Student Services Building / TBD at the Mooresville Campus
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Description: There will be posters displayed with information on Open Access as well as two great people to start a dialogue about the movement itself!
Title: Open Access Discussion and Q&A!
Location: Distance Learning Department located in the Eason Student Services Building
Time: 12:20 p.m. – 1:20 p.m.
Description: There will be a discussion on the relevance of Open Access in the modern world as well as an open forum for any questions you may have on the movement! There will also be information given out on the free lecture to be discussed on Wednesday.
Title: Open Access: Free Lecture Discussion!
Location: Distance Learning Department located in the Eason Student Services Building
Time: 12:20 p.m. – 1:20 p.m.
Description: There will be an open discussion on a free lecture, acquired through Open Access. The lecture can be viewed beforehand, or you can sit in and listen to the discussion!
Title: Accessing Free Literature through Open Access!

Description: There will be a computer lab dedicated to introducing a great Open Access resource, Librivox, that can be used to find classic literature to read or listen to!
Title: Open Access: Night of the Living Dead!
Location: Distance Learning Department located in the Eason Student Services Building
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Description: Using another incredible Open Access resource, there will be a viewing of the 1964 classic “Night of the Living Dead”! How to access this, and many other forms of entertainment, will be discussed briefly!
