THE LIBRARY INVITES YOU TO CELEBRATE THE 2021 INTERNATIONAL OPEN ACCESS WEEK (25-30 Oct 2021)

 Please join us for an Open Access Public Guest Lecture by Dr Reggie Raju, Director: Research and Learning, University of Cape Town. The lecture entitled “Social justice driving open access publishing” will focus on the role academic libraries are playing in driving the social justice agenda with their open access publishing initiatives.

 

Biography

Dr Raju has been in academic libraries for more than 30 years. He holds a PhD in Information Studies. He is the author of more than 70 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals, chapters in books and book publications. Reggie is a C2 NRF rated researcher with a research focus on open access. He is currently a member of the Academic and Research Libraries Standing Committee of IFLA as well as being the co-convenor of its Special Interest Group: Library Publishing. Reggie is currently the Chair of SPARC Africa and is driving the social justice agenda of open access for Africa. He serves on international boards such as LPC (USA based), Redalyc/AmeliCA (Mexico based) and COPIM (UK based). He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Librarianship and Scholarly communication.
