A celebration of open access publishing and open access resources at Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE).
Bindura University of Science Education Library has an institutional repository (IR) which houses the research output of BUSE. BUSE Library would showcase the institutional repository (IR) and other open access databases to increase awareness and use of open access resources. The activities would be done throughout the week to cover all the five faculties at BUSE and 100 lecturers.
The institutional repository will be showcased by making a presentation on the IR and getting testimonials from two lecturers on how they have benefited from the IR. A lecturer with the highest number of articles on the IR and another one with the highest downloads on the IR would give a testimonial on how the IR has increased their visibility as researchers. This would help to maximise the consumption of the resources that has been uploaded on the IR.
Training on how to access and use open access databases will be done to part two students who would be preparing to start their dissertations to ensure that they have access to a wide range of authentic and scholarly information sources. A hands-on session will be done in the computer laboratories and the students will be assisted on how to access open access resources. A question and answer session will be done after the presentation by the Faculty Librarians.
