Open Access Week

October 23 - 29, 2023 | Everywhere

At the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), the University Libraries, the Association for Students at the University of Nebraska (ASUN - student government), and the Graduate Student Association (GSA) are co-hosting this year's open access week events. We're getting the word out about open access and it's impact on students. Included in our plans is a panel discussion entitled "Open Access: What You Should Know" and a student competition. Students can e-mail their professors (CCing a special e-mail we created for the event) encouraging them to use UNL's online repository, the Digital Commons. Doing so will enter them into a raffle for a $50 gift cards from the UNL Computer and Phone Shop. The more e-mails they send, the higher their chances of winning!

Currently, the UNL Digital Commons has around 44,000 entries, making it the second largest institutional repository in the United States and 13th largest in the world. We're hoping to close the gap on Michigan's Deep Blue institutional repository, which is #1 in the US.
