Open Access Week is a great opportunity to highlight open-access publications, milestones and achievements, and for publishers to consider how Open Access can help increase the impact of what they publish.
- The Public Library of Science has been a very active participant in Open Access Week since its second year, promoting participation around the world and using the event to highlight the birthdays of its two flagship journals – PLoS Medicine and PLoS Biology.
- For OAWeek 2009, the Indian Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) launched two open-access journals.
- Also in 2009, the Open Access Scholarly Publishers’ Association (OASPA) got together with cross-sector partners in the UK to host events.
