Below are Iowa's planned activities and outreach during international Open Access Week. Beginning Monday we are running a series of ads in the student newspaper, the Daily Iowan with OA related messages, each with a link to more information online. Please note that the text of the first, second and fifth (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) ads appear on the front of a postcard sent to each UI faculty member next week, with a message on the back. The message is the first paragraph of the website above. Below is a complete list of activities planned.
Communications Plan
· Ads in the DI every week day Oct 18-22
· Slides on the flatscreens in Main and Hardin (health sciences library)
· www.lib.uiowa.edu/openaccess website
· Website Banner ads on www.lib.uiowa.edu that link to our OA website
· Stories on the Library News each day that relate to the ad content and link to our OA website
· Postcards mailed to all faculty
· PLoS t-shirts sent to “randomly” selected UI authors
· News release sent to UI News
· Libraries public services staff to wear OA buttons all week.
· Mass email to graduate students library. (same text as on faculty postcard)
· Facebook links to videos or other mainstream publications re: open access each day of week
