Welcome Lydia. 

Open access enables scholarly materials to be accessed free online without paying for them or without restrictions. There are group of organizations that are advocating for open access so that researchers and other writers will make their books and learning materials available for everybody to have access to them. So a day has been set aside to celebrate open access so that we can create the awareness and also promote it. So every year an international conference is organized for those who want to promote open access. Last year was in Germany which I attended, this year will take place in Canada.It is competative but try and apply. They do sponsor, use the link below. As me what u dont understand
