Dissemination of knowledge is a cornerstone of the education tradition. The research side of the academy pushes the boundaries of human understanding. Society has an interest in this knowledge, and so universities also have a mission of spreading this knowledge as widely as possible. The Internet has disrupted economic models in nearly every communications and media-based industry, with one notable exception being the collection and dissemination of academic works (scholarly communication.)

CASA-ACAE is hoping to spread the word about open access to our membership throughout the week. We have also partnered with the Canadian Association of Research Libraries to distribute awareness posters.

CASA members will also be advocating to the Federal government that research funded with tax payers dollars should be published in an open access format.
