This shows the importance of Open Access since it allows researchers from poorer countries to freely access important and relevant information. Springer also encourages researchers from less developed countries such as Lao PDR to publish by waiving the APC to all SpringerOpen and BMC journals

I WAS the director of SNU medical library.

LAOSpace is an open access repository for LAOS.

Why?

Think about it.

Developed countries produce better articles and

open access visibility is better through Institutional Repositories(IR).

Poor countries produce less and they are hardly visible

unless we pay subscription fees.

Access to information on LAOS can be improved through IR of LAOS.

Who?

Lee Jongwook Seoul project, JW Lee Center for Global Medicine, 

Seoul National University Medical Library help

University of Health Sciences of Vientiane to develop and operate LAOSpace.
