In 2011 the activities will deal with both research and education and will last two weeks. First week is Open and Research. Second week is Open And Open Educational Resources.

View last years Dutch OA week program

All Dutch universities and some universities for applied sciences organised activities to promote Open Access during the OA week 2009 and 2010. SURFfoundation coordinated these activities and presented them as a national program.
SURFfoundation also facilitated the universities with various promotion material.

Dutch website for Open Access WeekS online

Check out the Dutch website for the Open Access weekS: www.surfsites.nl/open2011en/

We aim to make international Open Access Week a success in 2011 again. This year  we will be taking things a step further and dealing with both research and education.

The focus during the first week (24 to 28 October) will be on Open Access and research; in the second week (31 October to 4 November), it will be on education and Open Educational Resources.

PRESS RELEASE: Researchers learn about publishing in Open Access journals in Dutch Open Access week
Higher education sector organises workshops during International Open Access Week.

Utrecht, 7 October 2010 – In the week from 11 to 15 October, the Netherlands will be bringing the benefits of Open Access to the attention of universities and research institutions by means of seminars, workshops, lectures and film clips. SURF is coordinating the Dutch Open Access week. The programme can be found at www.openaccess.nl. The Dutch event is part of International Open Access Week, which involves sixty countries worldwide. Researchers will be able to see how Open Access publishing offers advantages for them and for their institution, and how publications can be made available in the institution’s repository.

The future is Open Access. In this short film dr. Arianna Betti explains how she uses Open Access publications in her daily work and how Open Access can speed up research and increase collaboration between scholars.
