Inviting Speakers

As LSU Libraries is moving ahead on some kind of program for OA Week this fall, I'm wondering if it is too late to find a speaker from outside the university.  Does anyone have thoughts about this, or can anyone share experiences with getting speakers from outside OR inside one's institution?
