The nature of scholarly communication is changing. The publishing paradigms are beginning to shift as many ventures are coming to terms with digital publishing and open access initiatives. What does this mean for the monograph? As various disciplines are announcing guidelines for digital scholarship, how will these multi-modal projects find peer-reviewed publishing avenues?
Charles Watkinson, Publishing Director of the University of Michigan Press, and Mark Edington, Director of Amherst College Press, will engage in conversation with faculty about a new publishing venture, the Lever Press. The Press is an Open Access publishing initiative of the Oberlin Libraries Group in partnership with University of Michigan Press and Amherst College Press. The three guiding principles of the Press are 1) alignment with liberal arts colleges; 2) Platinum Open Access (completely open without requiring author or institutional fees); and 3) publication of works that are digitally native. Haverford is a participant in the Lever Initiative.
An Open Access Week event sponsored by the Haverford College Office of the Provost and Haverford College Libraries.
