Event Description

In January 2019 the “Project DEAL”, a German
initiative aiming at the open access transformation
of academic publishing, entered for the first time
into a contract with one of the major international
publishing companies. But what are the concrete
effects of the “DEAL” with the publisher Wiley on
everyday work of researchers and academics? A
question all the more important as negotiations
with Springer Nature and Elsevier are running or
resuming, respectively.
These and other topics concerning open access
publishing will be discussed during the event,
initiated by the keynote speech of DEAL expert Dr.
Ralf Schimmer from Max Planck Digital Library,
Munich.
