Event Description

Open licensing developed as a response to the restrictive nature of copyright and its growth demonstrates the desire of many creators, especially in academia, to make their work accessible and reusable by others. This session will provide an introduction to open licensing, focusing primarily on Creative Commons and how creators can assign licenses to their works and use the licensed works of others. Attendees are not expected to have significant experience with open licensing prior to attending.

Topics covered will include:

  • the history and development of open licenses
  • the different Creative Commons licenses and how they work
  • how to assign licenses to your work
  • how to find and reuse openly licensed content in your work

This session is during Pacific Daylight Time – PDT Time Zone.
