 f Open Access week at York University and around the world.  In the sp
 irit of this celebration, we’ve assembled a panel of speakers to deb
 ate the value of emerging forms of scholarly communication. Can we cha
 nge scholarship? Must we? Has the blog arrived, or does the book remai

 lligan is an assistant professor of history at the University of Wate
 rloo. He is a founding co-editor of the blog ActiveHistory.ca and, iro
 nically given his debating stance here, is working on a book manuscrip
 t dealing with young workers, unions, and New Leftists during the 1960
 s in Canada.\nMelonie Fullick is completing a PhD in Education with a
  focus on post-secondary governance, policy, and organizational change
 . She holds a BA in Communication Studies from McMaster University and
  an MA in Linguistics from York University. Melonie has written for va
 rious publications including Inside Higher Ed, the Guardian UK, Univer
 sity Affairs, and Academic Matters, and she can be found on Twitter at
  @qui_oui and through her blog, Speculative Diction.\nArguing for the 
 Book:\nJohn Fink is the Digital Scholarship Librarian at McMaster Uni
 versity. He completed his BA in English from Miami University in 1995,
  and his MLS from San Jose State University in 2005. His research inte
 rests include copyright, open source software, physical computing, ver
 sion control, and the digital humanities.\nScott McLaren completed hi
 s PhD in Book History and Print Culture at the University of Toronto i
 n 2010. He is Humanities Librarian and a faculty member in the Graduat
 e Program in Humanities at York University. This year, Scott was award
 ed a Botein Fellowship in Book History by the American Antiquarian Soc
 iety in Worcester, Massachusetts. His research has appeared in a varie
 ty of scholarly journals including the Papers of the Bibliographical S
 ociety in Canada, Renascence, and Christianity and Literature.\nhttp:/
