DESCRIPTION:The University of Salford is celebrating this year's Open 
 Access Week with a pair of lunchtime talks by researchers who are eng
 aging with the wider public by making their research openly accessible
 . The theme of this year's Open Access Week is \"Open in order to...\"
  and each event will look at our researchers' motivations for opening 
 up their research publications and research data and the benefits of 
 openness for audiences beyond academia.\n\nBeyond making the findings 
 discoverable and accessible to non-academics, what else can be done to
  broaden the cultural legacy of digital research projects when they ar
 e finished? How might the afterlives of digital research be experience
 d, how, by whom and for what purpose? How might digital data get immer
 sive, fuel people’s imaginations, shape identities, right wrongs? E
 rinma will illustrate some of the creative ways that staff, student
 s and the public can get involved in bringing scientific research data
  to life through virtual reality experiences, live performance and cit
 izen science. \nStaff from the library will briefly talk about how th
 ey support open research activities at the university and there'll be 
 an opportunity for discussion and networking too.\nLunch will be provi
