 er web-based venues. Dr. Joseph Serene, Treasurer/Publisher for the Am
 erican Physical Society, will discuss the first year of the society's 
 launch into open access publishing, offered to authors as an alternati
 ve to the traditional model. BioMed Central's Robert Schatz, North Ame
 rican Sales Manager, will talk about the sustained success of BMC's \"
 gold\" open access publishing model. Dr. Daniel Cohen, Associate Profe
 ssor of History and Director of the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History 
 and New Media at George Mason University, will describe PressForward, 
 a site hosted by CHNM that serves as a platform for sharing, compiling
 , and publishing scholarship. Economic aspects of open access publishi
 ng and its repercussions on the industry and on library purchasing pow
 er will be presented by Dr. Omar Al-Ubaydli, Assistant Professor of Ec
