SUMMARY:Publish or Perish How Open Access and Funders' Mandates Impac
t Our Publishing Decisions, Medical School faculty
DESCRIPTION:Funding bodies in the US and internationally have implemen
ted mandates that require grantees to make articles resulting from fun
ded research publicly accessible. These mandates are confusing, someti
mes difficult to navigate, and are becoming more rigorously enforced.
There are many options for researchers to publish their work in vehicl
es that will provide open access. Some options are better than others
and publishing decisions have consequences.\n\nThe purpose of this ses
sion is to provide UMMS faculty (and their administrative assistants)
with information, guidance, and support in deciding where, when, and h
ow to publish their research. Please note that in order for administra
tive assistants to attend, they must be accompanied by a faculty membe
r.\n\nSpeakers and facilitators in this workshop include representativ
es from the Office of Research and Special Projects, the Medical Schoo
l Office of Regulatory Affairs, Taubman Library, and Open.Michigan.\nP
