DESCRIPTION:As part of International Open Access Week, Brunel invites 
 all academics and students to a conference which brings together indus
 try professionals and Brunel researchers to talk about their commitmen
 t to making openness in research a reality.\nThe event will be livestr

 lunch and coffee!\nSpeakers will be:\nCameron Neylon, Curtin Universit
 y\nCameron Neylon is a one-time biomedical scientist who has moved int
 o the humanities via Open Access and Open Data advocacy. His research 
 interests include how to make the internet more effective as a tool fo
 r scholarship. He writes and speaks regularly on scholarly communicati
 on, the design of web based tools for research, and the need for polic
 y and cultural change within and around the research community. \nMik
 e Taylor, Digital Science\nAn expert researcher in alternative metrics
 , Mike is Head of Metrics Development at Digital Science. He has previ
 ously worked as part of Elsevier’s R&D group and in the Metrics and 
 Analytics Team. Mike works with many community groups, including FORCE
 11, RDA and NISO.\nVeerle Van den Eynden, UK Data Archive\nVeerle mana
 ges the Research Data Management (Producer Support) section at the UK 
 Data Archive . This section promotes and provides guidance, support an
 d training on data management, data management planning and data shari
 ng to researchers and data producers, in order to promote good data pr
 actices in research and to optimise data sharing opportunities.\nTeres
 a Jones & Stephen Hanney, Health Economics Research Group\nTeresa and 
 Stephen will be discussing Open Access, global research impact, and tr
 acing generations of citations. Brunel’s Health Economics Research G
 roup (HERG) have had a programme of research for over 20 years develop
 ing and applying approaches to assessing the wider impact of health re
 search; collaborations on this with WHO, informed HEFCE’s approach t
 o impact case studies, and provided evidence to defend the public rese
 arch budget.\nNana Anokye, Institute of Environment, Health and Societ
 ies\nNana is a public health economist and will discussing his experie
 nces with open data at Brunel. He has developed economic models for a 
 range of public health interventions, some of which have been used in 
 the NICE Guidance and is passionate about communicating research and s
