SUMMARY:Open Access Week 2013 in China
DESCRIPTION:Following up last year’s successful Open Access (OA) Wee
 k – the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS),
  will host a conference \"China Open Access Week 2013\" in Beijing on 
 October 21 - 23, 2013.\nThe conference will focus on national developm
 ents in open access institutional repositories (IR) and open access pu
 blishing, as well as on synergies within the open data and open educat
 ional resources movements.\nChina Open Access Week 2013 will have thre
 e main events:\n\nOpen Repository Day – which will introduce the res
 ults of national surveys conducted by China IR Implementation Group, i
 ncluding the status of China IRs, users’ demands, and Chinese journa
 ls self-archiving policies. In addition, some key issues will be discu
 ssed, such as the evaluation of IRs, encouraging depositing in IRs, IR
  international trends, and IR interoperability, etc. The target audien
 ce is directors of research and educational institutes, library direct
 ors, and IR managers.\n\n\nOA Publishing Day – which will highlight 
 international and national OA journals strategies and practices. Mauri
 ce Kwong (Executive Vice president, Springer Asia) will be one of the 
 speakers discussing the open access challenges for Chinese research. I
 n addition, new Article Level Metrics and OA publishing support polici
 es will be introduced. The target audience is Chinese journal publishe
 rs, policy-makers, research directors and researchers.\n\n\nOA Resourc
 es Day – which  will discuss synergies within open access, open dat
 a and the open educational resources movements, etc. The target audien
