DESCRIPTION:Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is hosting the O
 pen Access and Research Conference 2013, in Brisbane (Australia) from 
 31 October to 1 November.\n \nThe conference is an opportunity to tak
 e stock of recent developments in Open Access and to discuss the strat
 egic advantages these bring to the research sector moving forward. The
  conference theme Discovery, Impact and Innovation examines these deve
 lopments and looks ahead, to how these emerging systems of scholarly c
 ommunication can maximise research impact and help realise the full be
 nefits of public research worldwide.\n \nThe program includes speaker
 s from the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia, as well as a num
 ber of thematic sessions focusing on issues such as advocacy, alternat
 ive metrics, open data and open access publishing. Pre-conference work
